Field Service Technician - Charleston, SC

 

 

 

 

Purpose

Provide repair services to customers of Kärcher.  Repair services are generally preformed at customer locations off site from the company shop.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include installing, repairing equipment and training customer personnel on how to maintain machines. Satisfy and complete all aspects of service call, all business reporting including timesheets, repair orders, machine checklists, receiving records, expense reports, and repair order logs. Responsible for safely using and maintaining any company asset including, but not limited to trucks, trailers, tools, and other equipment, present a professional image both in personal appearance and condition of company equipment at any customer site or in the van.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain high level of productivity
  • Daily and responsive communication with Dispatch Call Center to receive jobs and relay job status upon completion of each service call
  • Responsive Interaction with customers providing highest level of service
  • Recognizing and securing additional revenue opportunities
  • Perform bi-monthly cycle counts of inventory and account for differences
  • Responsible for van inventory and accuracy
  • Daily completion and submission of paperwork (i.e.: work orders, timesheets)
  • Prepare parts replenishment paperwork and submit daily to Parts Coordinator
  • Responsible for safety of van and assurance that all safety items required are on the van
  • Responsible for assuring that regular vehicle maintenance checks are performed
  • Other duties as assigned

DIRECT SUPERVISION:  Daily priorities are established by supervisor but employee is expected to evaluate and respond to new situations which require immediate attention.  Work is frequently checked while in progress and end results are reviewed.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Auto Mechanic or similar Certification desirable

 

Experience

  • Years  performing repair and maintenance work on machines such as military vehicles, tanks, heavy equipment and automobiles including diesel engines
  • Experience performing advanced troubleshooting of commercial machines
  • Machine knowledge course and demonstrated on the job skill.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong electro-mechanical skills with previous service experience
  • Small engines competency
  • Basic electrical knowledge. Knowledge of AC and DC Circuits is a plus
  • Knowledge of hydraulics is a plus
  • Welding and torch experience is a plus
  • Metal fabricating and/or cutting experience is a plus
  • Self-Starter/ Takes the initiative
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work in both a team atmosphere and alone
  • Valid driver’s License with clean driving record
  • Customer-centric attitude
  • Ability to use a personal computer in the performance of job functions.

 

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift up 100 pounds
  • Travel as required

Base Salary

$25.42 - $37.38 /hour

 

Incentive Plan

STIP - Up to $4,000 (Determined by performance)
