Warehouse Manager - Fayetteville, AR

WAREHOUSE MANAGER - FAYETTEVILLE, AR

 

purpose

Manage and direct all activities within the Distribution Center operations.  Works closely with the Distribution Center Dirctor to understand and support the achievement of the facility goals for cost, quality, delivery performance and safety.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Direct daily operational activities including but not limited to order filling, checking, packing, truck loading, receiving, put away, cycle counting, replenishment, sanitation and maintenance.

Direct, coordinate and plan the warehouse storage and distribution of products

Review performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and determine areas needing improvement

Develop action plans to improve the operational processes

Assure the integrity of the shipping inventory and assist in conducting cycle counts and physical inventory if needed

Work closely with Distribution Center Supervisors to support and motivate personnel in the achievement of department safety, cost, quality, and performance goals

Create a positive work environment that promotes creativity, team work and recognition

Lead continuous improvement activities in the area of cost, quality and delivery

Track, analyze and communicate key performance indicators to staff and DC management

Work with Distribution Center Director to establish and manage annual budget, capital expenditures and expenses

Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with freight carriers and other vendors

Perform or delegate staff performance reviews and performance management

Provide required training and assistance to department personnel

Establish or adjust work procedures and allocate resources to meet production needs

Confer and coordinate activities with other management functions including customer service, purchasing, assembly and engineering..

Supervision Exercised

Manages subordinate supervisors and/or staff, and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education

Bachelors degree in a related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 5 years operational experience required including supervisory or management experience.

 

Experience

Five to ten years of warehouse leadership experience in receiving, shipping, or warehouse management

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Lean Manufacturing experience required including experience with cross-functional teams, visual controls, and kan-ban signals.

Spreadsheet, Database and Word-processing experience required.

Experience using computerized inventory systems, SAP preferred

Strong organization skills, attention to detail and follow through to resolve any outstanding issues

Ability to modify or write procedures and create visual controls

Enforce performance, cost, quality, safety, and security procedures

 

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to work in both an office and warehouse / production facility environment.
