Receiving & Traffic Supervisor

This is how you WOW:

  • Direct and Plan Workflow: Coordinate and plan the daily inbound receiving schedule to ensure an even flow of freight, preventing dock congestion and maximizing labor efficiency.

  • Dock Oversight: Oversee the entire Receiving Dock operation, serving as the primary point of contact for carriers and internal departments regarding incoming shipments.

  • Hands-On Execution: Work alongside the warehouse team to physically unload shipments, verify quantities, palletize cargo, and stage inventory for put-away when volume requires additional support.

  • Vendor & Carrier Relations: Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with freight carriers, outside vendors, and internal buyers to resolve delivery discrepancies, scheduling conflicts, or damage claims.

  • Monitor Inbound Performance: Track key receiving metrics such as Dock-to-Stock time (speed), unloading accuracy, detention costs, damages, and labor productivity to ensure the dock operates efficiently

  • Inventory Integrity: Assure the accuracy of all inbound inventory by strictly enforcing receiving procedures, including verifying counts against packing slips and purchase orders.

  • Quality Control: Perform and supervise quality checks on incoming products to identify damages or non-compliance before goods are accepted into stock.

  • Discrepancies: Oversees and manages our “5000” discrepancies storage location. Works with Buyers, purchasing team and vendors to find solutions for non-compliance goods.

 

It would be WOW if you would bring this in:

  •  An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration is preferred.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment, with specific experience in Receiving and/or Inventory Control.

  • Technical Proficiency- intermediate computer skills, including Google Workspace (Gmail,Sheets,Docs,etc.) and experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)

  • Language Skills - Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and  maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence.  Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. 

  •  Mathematical Skills - Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole  numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and  interpret bar graphs. 

  •  Reasoning Ability - Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in  situations where only some standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in  written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment

 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and reach with arms and hands.

  • Standing for 8 hours and frequent walking required.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. 

 

Physical Demands

 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to airborne particles. 

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually high, proper protective equipment is required.
