Sr. Regulatory Affairs Manager - Denver, Colorado
Purpose
This resource assures adherence and certification of our products to government and international regulatory requirements. They represent company interests in regulatory committees and work directly with certification agencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Represents company interest by participating in Regulatory Technical Committees. Manages the North American product portfolio to ensure certification and market access.
Provides guidance to NPD Team on adherence to identified Safety and Performance standards. Works directly with National Recognized testing laboratories (NRTLs) to arrange for and monitor compliance certification testing. Familiarity with pressure washer, floor care, and water treatment safety standards is ideal.
Develops, implements, and reviews current policies and practices issued by Federal and international regulatory agencies. Maintains Close contact with the global regulatory team of Kärcher.
Represents KNA in industry associations such as AACEM, ISSA, CETA and safety standard organizations such as CSA, UL, IEC, etc..
Stays current with and advises corporation on international regulation requirements like RoHS, REACH, CE, EMC, and relevant domestic standards such as the Consumer Protection Act, OSHA, Prop 65, CARB, EPA and the Clean Water Act involving our products.
Provides guidance on product safety issues with legal topics.
Manages product compliance audits, issues and associated activities. Negotiates directly with regulatory authorities regarding company's registration. Analyzes reports of resulting data and recommends responses to complaints, considering nature of complaint and company interests and policies.
Provides employee training on compliance related topics, policies, or procedures.
Advises corporate personnel regarding the development and implementation of regulatory strategy, potential areas of regulatory concern, and new government/regulatory developments.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews and approves technical data, and verifies accuracy of technical data and execution of technical projects to regulatory authorities.
Coordinates with other departments, corporate or marketing partners, and international offices to achieve project goals.
Conducts investigations to resolve complaints and report violations for adjudication.
Participates in product litigation, writing of warranty policies, reviewing manuals, marketing literature, service bulletins, and directing Service Councils.
Travel: ~10-15% including some international travel required.
Supervision Received
MINIMAL SUPERVISION: Employee participates in establishing organizational objectives and plans work to accomplish objectives. Independence of action is stressed, and review of work occurs through established organization management processes, as work product is utilized by others or based on results achieved. This level of supervision is typical of a department or unit head or an expert professional staff member.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
Four to ten years of related experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong written and verbal skills. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.
Detail oriented and extremely organized. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
