Technical Service Specialist

PURPOSE:  This position works with our distributors and customers providing technical service for equipment repair and maintenance via phone, fax, and e-mail through daily interactions.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIIES (include but are not limited to):

  • Possesses electro-mechanical aptitude, follow through, and strong customer service skills.
  • Responds to all customer inquiries on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Provides technical service support where needed.
  • Furnishes requested information daily to customers via phone, fax, or e-mail.
  • Communicates with engineering and production to resolve recurring issues that arise from the field.
  • Assists with training schools on the local level when needed.
  • Requires occasional travel to assist with problems that may occur in the field.
  • Possesses the ability to multi-task to perform functions pertaining to customer care.
  • Understands the credit and rebilling process.
  • Possesses computer skills that include Excel, Word, AS400/MAPICS/COM, SAP, and Outlook.



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.



  • Reads, comprehends, and interprets a variety of simple to complex instructions and diagrams.
  • Uses writing skills to document repair and maintenance-related problems.
  • Articulates information clearly to a variety of audiences; i.e., customers, other technical employees, management, etc.
  • Communicates through reading and writing using the English language; however, knowledge of other languages is a plus.



  • Performs basic math calculations, as needed, when solving technical problems.
  • Performs calculations for technical conversions.



  • Makes decisions that will assist the customer as well as remains consistent with KNA’s business values.



  • The majority of the work is performed in an office environment that has limited physical demands.
  • Occasions may arise that require the Technical Service Specialist to work in the manufacturing environment to resolve pending customer issues.



  • Is mostly in an office environment which includes a computer and IT technology.
  • Trips are made occasionally to the manufacturing floor.
  • Occasional travel may be required to customers’ facilities which may also require the employee to have acceptable credit in order to qualify for a company credit card to be used for travel purposes.
  • At times must work on the second floor with no access to an elevator.
