Human Resource Generalist - Aurora, Colorado

HR Generalist - Aurora, Colorado

 

Purpose

Implements human resource programs by providing human resources services, which includes administrative, completing employee change and separation notification, training and development, and employee or labor relations. Completes personnel transactions and maintains associate records. Collects and analyzes internal and external information in order to compare the organizations HR practices to those prevailing in the market. Ensures compliance with applicable labor laws or regulations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Carries out human resources programs by providing human resources services, including  employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations; and by completing personnel transactions.

Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information and recommending courses of action.

Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; proposing and evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; and coaching and counseling managers and employees.

Completes special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information; forming conclusions and recommendations.

Manages client expectations by communicating project status and issues; resolving concerns; analyzing time and cost issues; and preparing reports.

Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.

Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.

Complies with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Ensures adherence to the company’s standardized selection processes and compliance with employment statutory and regulatory requirements.

Determines employment suitability by evaluating data from employment related reference and background checks (where appropriate) and recommends employment actions based on same.

Conducts new hire onboarding.

Maintains recruitment and employment metrics and monthly dashboards.

Counsel employees and supervisors on various employee relations issues including disciplinary action, performance difficulties, conflicts, terminations, promotions, etc.

Recommends new or changed policies as necessary to reflect changes and new practices.

Coordinates company response to unemployment claims with our third party administrator.

 

Supervision Received

GENERAL SUPERVISION:  Employee plans work and manner of performance to meet defined work plans or objectives.  Routine tasks are performed independently, but unusual or critical circumstances are subject to consultation with supervisor. 

 

Supervision Exercised

Performs work under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses working knowledge of subject matter.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SPHR certification is highly desirable.

 

Experience

5 years of experience as an HR professional within a structured HR function is required.

2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, service or distribution is highly desirable.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

Advanced interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with managers, supervisor, employees and the general public.

Ability to consistently project a professional demeanor and maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Ability to utilize sound judgment and work independently while recognizing the importance of working within established procedures and departmental requirements.

Ability to independently problem-solve as well as to understand organizational structure in order to effectively handle and direct inquiries to the appropriate individual or resource.

Strong organizational skills supporting the ability to multi-task in simultaneously satisfying multiple demands.

 

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals and professional articles.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees and others.

Base Salary

$60,000 - $67,000
 

Incentive Plan

Karcher Incentive Plan (KIP) - up to 10% annual bonus eligibility
