IT Business Systems Analyst, Distribution & Logistics
The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000 depending on experience, including bonus opportunity
The IT Business Systems Analyst (BSA), Distribution & Logistics, serves as the technical authority and primary architect for the North American logistics and distribution technology stack. This role is responsible for the technical integrity, the administrative backend, and the iterative delivery of system enhancements, while ensuring that all technology investments adhere AKW & Regional IT Standards and Policies. The position serves as the final decision-making authority for development, focusing on scalable, architecturally sound solutions that meet operational needs.
This is how you WOW:
- Technical Ownership & Iterative Solution Design
● System Configuration & Logic: Act as the primary technical authority for the "logic" and administrative backend of the logistics stack, including Infios WMS (formerly Körber), MyLP TMS, SAP, VLM, and Ship Exec.
● Agile "Chunking" & Delivery: Responsible for decomposing complex business requirements—submitted by the business counterpart—into small, deliverable technical "chunks."
● Value Stream Management: Ensure a constant stream of value through iterative releases, intentionally avoiding high-risk "big-bang" deployments.
● Governance Standards: Establish the "Definition of Ready" for technical work and define milestones for required technical documentation, such as functional specifications and API schemas.
● Scoping & Estimation: Lead business stakeholders through discovery to identify technical effort and, when needed, cost estimates, ensuring all proposed solutions are architecturally sound and within IT’s guardrails. Work to develop Statements of Work to coordinate development with 3rd party providers.
● Testing and Development: Ensure that Test systems are operational and that all testing is performed within the test system, documented, and that business sign-off is obtained on the BRP tickets prior to scheduling the move of items into Production.
- Compliance, Prioritization & Governance Review
● Compliance: Ensure all technology-related expenditures and development adhere to AKW & Regional IT Standards and Policies, regardless of the originating cost center.
● Roadmap Validation: Validate that all technical funds are allocated in strict accordance with the combined IT and Business roadmap.
● Policy Determination: Work within IT Policies to determine whether and when formal documentation—such as ROI analyses or Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR)—is required from the business for major initiatives. Ensure that the required documentation to move forward with development is in place and completed in partnership with your business counterpart(s).
● WSJF Prioritization: Utilize a structured weighting and skill system (including Weighted Shortest Job First methodology) to make the final determination on development sequencing based on technical feasibility and business value. Ensure coordination is in place with the Business to account for their direction and operational direction.
● COSOC Compliance: In accordance with the Corporate System Ownership & Control (COSOC) document, serve as the designated owner of all applications and systems, maintaining ultimate authority over the development process and technical resource allocation.
III. Operational Asset & Technical Support Liaison
● Specialized Hardware Oversight: Serve as the "Single Point of Contact" for DC leadership regarding hardware assets specifically required to support systems, such as RF scanners and industrial label printers.
● Infrastructure Advocacy: Act as a technical advocate for the DC on network performance and monitor IT Support Services to ensure connectivity meets operational requirements.
● Advanced Troubleshooting: Provide high-level (Tier 2/3) technical support for complex application errors, logic failures, and integration issues between the logistics stack and SAP.
IV. Testing Coordination & Business Partnership
● Testing Technical Lead: Partner with the Business counterpart to ensure technical support for all testing initiatives.
● Functional Validation: Coordinate with business stakeholders to ensure technical solutions deliver the specific functional outcomes required by the operation.
● Requirement Translation: Partner with business stakeholders during discovery to identify technical effort and cost estimates, ensuring all solutions are architecturally sound.
